… the remaining 20 women from Ghunsa and another 20 from Chyangsar are now ready for the PGS programme. The aim is to certify them next year in spring. This means above all the trainings by the experts and some basic material has to be financed.
We are very happy about this and are now working hard to organise the money.
Every donation is very welcome – Christmas is coming soon, maybe a good idea for a present?
.. partly improvised on the floor in the new training hall.. especially for the children, the organic vegetables mean more health... Selling organic vegetables as an income is a great opportunity for many... after the women have seen the difference in the gardens, they now want to join in too
.. pure maize fields will soon become historical pictures
… of the PGS training for organic vegetable production in Kunikhop was successfully attended by all women. The model farm was activated very quickly and so it was possible to show the women a lot of practical things. It was great that this training could already take place in the new training hall, as it would not have been possible outdoors due to bad weather. Unfortunately, there is no furniture yet, but the women made themselves comfortable on the floor. The team of Social Work Institute Nepal and HASERA did a great job. The women go home highly motivated with a certificate and plants.
.. The joy about the plants they can take home after the training can be seen in the participants’ faces!.. With an already well-stocked greenhouse, a lot of practical learning is possible.. Even the tomatoes are already ripening.. Fortunately, the training hall is already ready for classes – only the furniture is still missing.. The participants can hardly wait to get started.. In groups they work on the topic
… and proudly go home with the certificate and plant saplings to put what they have learned into practice!
… we want to go with the women in the villages of Solududhkunda also with regard to toilets. At the moment, there are all kinds of options, from very rudimentary to septic tanks, far away as a rickety hut to a little stone house next to the dwelling house. In the sense of permaculture, the cycle can be closed here too and everything can be used. Taking into account local possibilities, we are working on a prototype that works with wooden floors. This should not only support agriculture, but also improve the situation for the women.
Many thanks at this point especially to HASERA, with whom we have already tested a lot.
Now we hope for financial support so that the first 50 households can be equipped with composting toilets.
.. new for the women is the use of the material from the composting toilets... the clean installation with wooden floor works well.. the material is collected directly underneath.. the prototype was discussed and developed together.
.. the women with the prototype installed are happy about the beautiful toilets
… the women in Ghunsa are now also equipped for the construction of the small animal breeding. For the PGS-compliant stables, they were mainly provided with the roof; they built the stables themselves and did a great job. Now they can borrow money from the cooperative to increase the number of animals. All this already involves a lot of personal responsibility and independent organisation. We are proud of how much they have learned in the last few years.
Many thanks to Land Vorarlberg and Chay-Ya, through whose support the basis for this can be laid. Since July, the project has been continued by Roots for Life.
.. the new stables are really cosy, bright and safe... before they were often just shelters during the day and small dark rooms for the night and winter... we had to buy the metal sheets for a good roof.
.. we are also proud of the men who worked energetically on the project.
… it took in Kunikhop and a beautiful training hall could be completed in its shell. All the work was done with local materials and local labour. How great – this way all the added value stays in the village. There is also a lot going on in the greenhouse and in the field.
Many thanks to the Schoeck-Familien-Stiftung, which is providing significant support for this project.
..the women are proud of their new training hall.. the details are discussed with our experts.. the pre-breeding of the plants is an important step.. the first harvests are already in the greenhouse.. now the two buildings of the model farm are finished
.. but before the first training session the interior still has to be finished
the women in Merangding have transformed the model farm into a green oasis. The greenhouse was officially opened in March and the first plants were still small. In the meantime, the first harvest can already be harvested and home-grown plants can be sold.
We are proud of this progress that the women of the local cooperative have achieved together.
Many thanks to Fair Styria for making this project possible.
.. the women work together in the greenhouse... all the fields are planted outside too.. Chard and plants are already being sold.. our local expert still accompanies the planting of the plants
… of all the activities of Roots for Life was given by Carola Gosch at a charity event. A video of the interview with a summary of the great work of Roots for Life has also been created – take a look.
… the women from Merangding and Kunikhop were very happy about the generous donation of the company Konrath Neunkirchen https://www.facebook.com/GartencenterKonrath/ With the 15 automatic window openers the large greenhouses can be operated safely and mold can be avoided.
Many thanks to the company Konrath in the name of the cooperative.
.. great joy in Kunikhop about the openers.. great joy in Merangding about the openers.. the installation on the roof and on the side can begin.. this is how the opener ensures ventilation
.. exactly one month before the handover Carola Gosch was allowed to pick up 15 pieces
… is the implementation of the training by the women in Ghunsa. Potato fields have become great mixed crop fields, and in the meantime they are growing their own plants in greenhouses.
We are happy that all women from the certification program can sell their vegetables as 100% organic.
We visited some on their farms, here are 2 impressive examples.
.. During a festive ceremony the certificates were handed over to women from Ghunsa and Chyangsar.. New vegetables are grown in the greenhouse.. with special procedures seeds are collected.. The women are especially proud of the sign that identifies the farm as 100% organic.. Many different plants in the greenhouse could be admired.. Impressive results with lettuce
.. Extra seeds were given to the “best in the village”
