… are the basis for sustainability. That is why we are particularly pleased that after the prototype phase, the first composting toilets are now being implemented in Ghunsa. For this to work, a lot of training is needed for the construction and use of the toilets. We think it’s great that the women can then use the compost as fertiliser for growing vegetables.
Many thanks to Fair Styria for supporting this project.
… the basics for the construction and use of composting toilets are taught.… a final model is developed on the basis of the prototypes.… there is a lot of discussion over lunch… it can only work if it is used correctly.
… the women were already very happy with it during the prototype phase.
.. what the women in Kunikhop have achieved in less than 2 years. The founding of a cooperative was followed by a long search for a suitable area and its purchase. With a lot of effort, the area was prepared, a greenhouse and a training hall were built, and sample fields with new vegetables were planted.
… the initiative to support species-appropriate stables and loans for the purchase of animals has developed further. In self-administration of the cooperative, small loans are granted and paid back by the women so that the next ones can receive support.
These activities no longer need to be supported externally. Many thanks to all who have made the development possible.
.. all participants in the programme received the same material, the use was different... the credit was used to buy the animals... some of the stables are very simple.. some women are still waiting for the loan to buy the animals.
… is also held in Nepal as soon as the roof truss is finished. Piece by piece the wood and stones were carried to the building site in Merangding and the training hall was built. Due to the strong price increases it took longer and a lot of voluntary work had to be done.
We are proud of the women’s initiative and look forward to great training sessions in the hall. Of course, the completion had to be celebrated.
Many thanks to Fair Styria for the great support of this project.
.. local wood is carried to the construction site, mainly by the women of the cooperative... they carry and rest together.. the construction follows the same plan as in the other villages... the roof truss is almost finished, time to celebrate
… Carola Gosch initiated a strategy day with all leading women of the cooperative and the entire team. Questions such as “what were our successes in 2022” and “what are our plans for 2023 and what do we need to achieve them” were discussed very intensively and then presented. Experiences were exchanged, insights gained, but also a lot of laughter and energy built up for the next steps.
We would like to thank all the supporters of the projects whose success we were able to celebrate here. Especially Fair Styria and Schöck-Familien-Stiftung make this sustainable development possible.
.. Carola Gosch explains the idea behind the workshop.. each village has a team.. the presentation is prepared.. the results of the documentation are prepared.. the presidents present the results
.. commonalities are exchanged during the presentation
…for the Sagarmatha Milijuli Mahila Cooperative. For the first time, all 4 villages are represented and can decide together on the projects. Over 200 women came, the atmosphere was great. There were not only presentations and discussions but also eating, gossiping and dancing.
We would like to thank all the supporters who believed in and supported the development of the cooperative. Especially Fair Styria and Schoeck-Familien-Stiftung have financed trainings of the cooperative again and again.

.. in Chyangsar are now protected by a massive deadwood hedge. Together with Bibek Dhital from HASERA, we were able to convince the local authority to include this kind of fence in their support programme in addition to wire mesh fences.
Many thanks also to Kusang Tamang for the energetic implementation. Once again an element could be implemented according to permacultural principles. We hope to see more fences like this in the region.
.. the branches are installed between the supports.. not so easy to implement in steep terrain.. over time the greenery falls off, animals nest and a green inhabited “wall” is created.. the animals can no longer enter the apple orchard through the fence.
… was the survey on the mental health of the women in the four villages for the psychology team. In just a few days, all the villages were visited and various discussions were held. With this we want to give the women a space
With this, we want to give the women a space to talk to professionals, possibly ask for help or simply share their mood for change through the projects.
.. the roads were impassable so we went on foot from village to village... an opportunity for the women to speak out... there was also a questionnaire on the impact of the project... some topics were discussed in small groups... everyone was very serious about it
.. partly improvised on the floor in the new training hall
