  • In no time at all …

In no time at all …

… the women in Kunkhop created a model farm on the new cooperative fields. They came not only with their tools to work the soil but also with ready compost, animal manure and herbs for the preparation of the soil. The action was professionally accompanied by our partner Hasera and the women could learn a lot for the cultivation of the fields. After the strenuous work in this 2-day training, of course, they also had to eat well.

We are happy about the enthusiasm and hope for fields full of healthy vegetables.

The project is mainly supported by the Schöck-Familien-Stiftung gGmbH.

.. The women from Kunikhop bring kompost from home to prepare the fields of the model farm
.. the work is progressing rapidly with so much zeal and many hands!

.. The women bring manure from home to work it into the fields
.. the fields are prepared and waiting to be planted.
.. The plants are processed into liquid fertilizer
.. after so much work and effort food is also served
.. and then of course tastes all better together!
  • Warm jackets …

    Warm jackets …

… provided now also for the children in Kunikhop. What a joy. There is no heating in the houses and in the school and the winter is very cold. For us Europeans hardly imaginable. That is why Roots for Life has been distributing the popular fleece jackets for years, which keep warm and fit under a jacket. These cozy jackets are not even taken off to sleep.

We thank our sponsors who make this possible.

If you would also like to contribute as a sponsor, we would be happy to hear from you at office@rootsforlife.info

.. the children are equipped with new fleece jackets and wear them with pride
    .. the jackets are unpacked….
.. the design is not only beautiful but very pactical with many bags
.. all kids are waiting patiently for their turn
    .. fröhliche Gesichter
.. is this the right size?
.. there is also something for the little ones!
.. allmost all are already dressed

.. a suitable jacket was found for all

  • More and more women …

    More and more women …

… from Kunikhop also want to participate in the certification program for organic vegetable cultivation. It quickly becomes clear how difficult it is to achieve high yields on the fields, some of which are very small. Through the new knowledge in the area of mixed culture, use of compost, biological fertilizer and plant protection, this should change now. This sounds exciting, which is why twice as many women as planned are taking part in the program. They are all informed in an admission procedure about the form of support but also about their obligations. Based on the baseline data, all progress can be well documented later.

    We are excited.

The project is especially supported by the Schöck-Familien-Stiftung gGmbH

.. only a few vegetalbes have been grown by the women in Kunikhop so far
.. also the knowledge about soil preparation and mixed culture will soon be applied by the women in Kunikhop
.. A traditional house in Kunikhop
.. expecially protein-rich vegetables are still missing from the menu – soon there will be seeds available for them

.. in the construction of greenhouse and design of fields women were until now left to themselves

  • Building up..

    Building up..

.. a cooperative is exciting and means a lot of new things for the women to learn: “How do we organize ourselves, what are our rights and duties and accounting do we also have to learn and understand!”. So now the women in Kunikhop are becoming part of the success story, which has now grown from 5 women in 2016 to over 200 women.

They benefit from the many experiences and the proven training program of our partner Social Work Institute and are thus optimally prepared for your new task – we wish you a good harvest and much success.

Many thanks also to the Schöck-Familien-Stiftung gGmbH who supports us financially here.

The women follow the lessons with big interest

Until the training hall is built, everything takes place outdoors, if possible
Learning can also be a lot of fun for the women at school

    A fabric called Dhaka …

… is still woven in the villages according to centuries-old patterns. For the Nepalese, this is a fabric used for traditional costumes. But our women like to be creative and incorporate modern designs into these colorful fabrics every now and then.

The fabrics are woven in the villages themselves and our women have made sample pieces that they are very eager to sell in Austria for the benefit of the cooperative.

We are all very excited to see if and how it will be accepted and look forward getting feedback on the first prototypes.

… we wish our women and children in Nepal.

    “Spontaneous socks” …

… are needed . When distributing Christmas wishes to our girls, this time it was underwear, they actually came in Flip flops without socks in sub-zero temperatures. Socks are luxury items and are only used for school shoes. Little things that we don’t think about anymore make a big difference in Nepal.

If you also want to do something good for Christmas, we would be happy about a sponsorship at office@rootsforlife.info.

For this year we thank our sponsors for their support and would like to remind everyone that we need your address and date of birth to register with the tax office.

We wish you a Merry Christmas and all the best for 2022.

    Kunikhop – Scholarships

With the establishment of the cooperative in Kunikhop came the desire of the women to support their girls in attending school. Education as a prerequisite for a self-determined life for their daughters is a real need for the women in Kunikhop. The program for the girls in Kunikhop will start in 2021.
