    Cycles …

… are the basis for sustainability. That is why we are particularly pleased that after the prototype phase, the first composting toilets are now being implemented in Ghunsa. For this to work, a lot of training is needed for the construction and use of the toilets. We think it’s great that the women can then use the compost as fertiliser for growing vegetables.

Many thanks to Fair Styria for supporting this project.

… the basics for the construction and use of composting toilets are taught.
… a final model is developed on the basis of the prototypes.
… there is a lot of discussion over lunch
… it can only work if it is used correctly.

… the women were already very happy with it during the prototype phase.

… are the first attempts to graft fruit trees. The nursery now grows its own rootstocks that are adapted to the climatic conditions. Special fruit varieties are then grafted onto these.

We are keeping our fingers crossed and are already very curious to see whether this will work. The trees could then be distributed in the villages but also sold.

Many thanks to all our supporters who make this possible.

.. practising together with an expert
.. very precise work must be done here
.. the next generation is growing up

  • Great …

    Great …

… the initiative to support species-appropriate stables and loans for the purchase of animals has developed further. In self-administration of the cooperative, small loans are granted and paid back by the women so that the next ones can receive support.

These activities no longer need to be supported externally. Many thanks to all who have made the development possible.

.. all participants in the programme received the same material, the use was different.
.. the credit was used to buy the animals.
.. some of the stables are very simple
.. some women are still waiting for the loan to buy the animals.

.. some have used existing stone walls

  • Suicide …

… is still the most common cause of death for Nepali women aged 15 to 49.

Faced with physical and physical violence, they often have no one they can trust to help them.

Now it has hit one of our girls in the village, at the age of 13 she did not know what to do.

We are shocked and grieve with the family. In any case, we will intensify our activities and do everything possible to avoid fates like this in the future.

to avoid fates like this in the future.

We will not forget our girl.

… every space on the model farm in Ghunsa is used. In the future, grain and dried vegetables can be milled and packaged in the new small extension building. This is another small step towards marketing.

We are already looking forward to the first products that can be professionally produced here.

Many thanks to all the sponsors who have believed in our projects so far.

  • For the first time …

    For the first time …

Carola Gosch initiated a strategy day with all leading women of the cooperative and the entire team. Questions such as “what were our successes in 2022” and “what are our plans for 2023 and what do we need to achieve them” were discussed very intensively and then presented. Experiences were exchanged, insights gained, but also a lot of laughter and energy built up for the next steps.

We would like to thank all the supporters of the projects whose success we were able to celebrate here. Especially Fair Styria and Schöck-Familien-Stiftung make this sustainable development possible.

.. each village has a team

…for the Sagarmatha Milijuli Mahila Cooperative. For the first time, all 4 villages are represented and can decide together on the projects. Over 200 women came, the atmosphere was great. There were not only presentations and discussions but also eating, gossiping and dancing.

We would like to thank all the supporters who believed in and supported the development of the cooperative. Especially Fair Styria and Schoeck-Familien-Stiftung have financed trainings of the cooperative again and again.

  • The second time …

    The second time …

… we are able to support 10 girls, this time from all 4 villages, to complete their higher education with the 11th and 12th grade. They live in Sallerie in rented rooms and have their own kitchen. Lena Kremser organised pretty blouses which they were very happy about.

Many thanks to our sponsors, without whom all this would not be possible.

  • A tree nursery …

    A tree nursery …

… is being built above the model farm in Ghunsa. The cooperative has bought another piece of land here, where there is a large greenhouse and outdoor space. Here, local rootstocks are grown from seeds, which can then also be grafted and sold.

We are already very curious to see whether a sustainable contribution to income generation and food diversity will succeed here as well.

Many thanks to Chay Ya for supporting the launch of this initiative.

… before winter, Carola Gosch brings the great self-knitted socks of Lena Kremser and her knitting troupe to Merangding and Ghunsa. The fun is great when the socks are chosen and put on to match the clothes.

Many thanks to the hard-working knitters and Lena Kremser for the organisation!
