In no time at all …

… the women in Kunkhop created a model farm on the new cooperative fields. They came not only with their tools to work the soil but also with ready compost, animal manure and herbs for the preparation of the soil. The action was professionally accompanied by our partner Hasera and the women could learn a lot for the cultivation of the fields. After the strenuous work in this 2-day training, of course, they also had to eat well.

We are happy about the enthusiasm and hope for fields full of healthy vegetables.

The project is mainly supported by the Schöck-Familien-Stiftung gGmbH.

.. The women from Kunikhop bring kompost from home to prepare the fields of the model farm
.. the work is progressing rapidly with so much zeal and many hands!

.. The women bring manure from home to work it into the fields
.. the fields are prepared and waiting to be planted.
.. The plants are processed into liquid fertilizer
.. after so much work and effort food is also served
.. and then of course tastes all better together!
  • Dried vegetable products …

    Dried vegetable products …

… are to be produced in Ghunsa in the future. The women are very happy about the solar dryer that was purchased at the National Innovation Center and assembled by the technicians. They are very excited to distribute the food dried with the solar dryer. Any organically certified, locally grown produce can be processed, such as radishes, mustard spinach, cauliflower and many more. This solar dryer could be a great source of income for the women in Ghunsa. But also the cooperatives in Chyangsar, Merangding and Kunikhop could benefit a lot.

We thank Land Vorarlberg and our partner Chay-ya Austria for the financial support of this innovation, as well as Social Work Institute and Chay-ya Nepal for the local handling.

.. the women from Ghunsa are happy about the new solar dryer
.. the technician mounts the cables for the fan
.. the scaffolding and the side parts are already erected
.. now the roof is fixed
.. a view from inside with the drying racks

.. the finished solar dryer is handed over to the women

  • More and more women …

    More and more women …

… from Kunikhop also want to participate in the certification program for organic vegetable cultivation. It quickly becomes clear how difficult it is to achieve high yields on the fields, some of which are very small. Through the new knowledge in the area of mixed culture, use of compost, biological fertilizer and plant protection, this should change now. This sounds exciting, which is why twice as many women as planned are taking part in the program. They are all informed in an admission procedure about the form of support but also about their obligations. Based on the baseline data, all progress can be well documented later.

    We are excited.

The project is especially supported by the Schöck-Familien-Stiftung gGmbH

.. only a few vegetalbes have been grown by the women in Kunikhop so far
.. also the knowledge about soil preparation and mixed culture will soon be applied by the women in Kunikhop
.. A traditional house in Kunikhop
.. expecially protein-rich vegetables are still missing from the menu – soon there will be seeds available for them

.. in the construction of greenhouse and design of fields women were until now left to themselves

  • We are happy..

    We are happy..

.. to see how great the work with the woman cooperative Sagarmatha Milijuli Sana Kishan Mahila Krishi Sahakari Sanstha Limited in the villages is progressing even in the cold.

Many thanks to Fair Styria, Land Vorarlberg and Schöck-Familien-Stiftung gGmbH for their financeial support and our project partners Chay Ya Nepal, Chay Ya Austria, SWI and Hasera for the great cooperation.

Who still wants to do a good deed for Christmas, already with 20€ we can support a woman with trainings for one year.

    We welcome donations at

.. the prepared compost is distributed on the new fields
.. the first plants – gifts from the other villages – are planted
.. the preparation of the fields is important for growing vegetables
.. the training courses mainly take place in the field

.. our partner Bibek creates the first fields with the women in the model farm Merangding and Kunikhop

  • Kunikhop – Farming

    Kunikhop – Farming

The construction of the model farm can begin here in 2021. A training hall, greenhouses and training fields are to be built on the cooperative’s land. The selection of women for the PGS certification program is also planned.

  • Meranding – Farming

    Meranding – Farming

In 2021, the construction of a model farm will also begin here. According to the experiences from the other villages, a small piece of central land will first be purchased from the cooperative to plant vegetable plots, to set up a greenhouse and, if possible, to build a small training hall with toilets.

  • Empowerment Nepal ..

    Empowerment Nepal ..

.. means for us to rely on national initiatives. A project is being started in Ghunsa together with the National Innovation Center. With a predominantly solar-powered drying house, local vegetables are to be dried and processed into traditional products.

The contracts have been signed, unfortunately the lockdowns and then the rainy season made the work more difficult. Now the locally mined stones are on their way to Ghunsa to build a floor slab.

Many thanks especially to @unser vorarlberg and Chay-Ya Austria and Chay-Ya Nepal for their support.

  • Apples and vegetables ..

    Apples and vegetables ..

.. are also available at the model farm in Chyangsar. The amount of apples is still not that big, but the children are very happy about every single one. The beautiful vegetables also contribute to a more varied diet in the families and we are very happy about that.

Many thanks to @fair styria, who support this project significantly.

  • At the beginning ..

    At the beginning ..

.. of the project implementation, our local partners took another look at the situation of the individual families in the village. This makes it possible to respond even more specifically to the needs and to show changes. For example, there are already a few greenhouses in Kunikhop where the government has financed the plastic. Some of the animals are already being sold. As far as vegetables are concerned, they still grow relatively few species and, above all, not yet in a mixed culture.

The women are very happy to learn all this in the new project.

Many thanks especially to the Schöck-Familien-Stiftung gGmbH for making this possible for them.

  • Hopeful plans ..

    Hopeful plans ..

.. the women from Meranding are making plans with our partner Racedi Pathak. They also want to learn more about organic vegetable cultivation and increase the diversity of their food with greenhouses.
We are still hoping for financial support through grants. In any case, we will make sure that they can be trained together with the women in the other villages and are prepared to implement some things already this season.

Many thanks to all who support us.
