Synergies and added value are important to us, so the girls in Pokhara were able to earn money by sewing the hair bands, which are now being distributed to the women in the villages. 30 warm jackets were handed over for the girls in Pokhara.

We are delighted about the synergy between the projects and would like to thank the sponsors for their many years of support.

  • Many thanks …

    Many thanks …

… to the great team in Nepal and the good time we had with the women and girls we were able to work with.

It wasn’t easy this year, especially due to the difficult road conditions; it took us over 22 hours to cover the 300 kilometres to the village.

… after the visits with the team to all the villages, there was another party with a vegetable presentation and seed exchange
… the direct route was officially closed, but that didn’t stop us
… the road on the slope behind us no longer exists – a ramp took us into the riverbed
… then out of the valley back onto the road

… it’s more relaxing to process the receipts back in Kathmandu

.. girls from the villages are attending university in Kathmandu this year. The last two have signed the agreement with Roots for Life. The parents are also helping financially. We as well as the parents, families and friends – indeed the whole villages – are very proud of the girls who can now pursue their dream.

Many thanks to all the sponsors and supporters who make this programme possible.

The community is very important for the girls. Together with their carer, they learn routines in areas such as exercise, meditation, study times and house and garden work.

Many thanks to the Schöck Family Foundation for supporting the hostel.

.. there is one cake for several girls
.. a particularly delicious meal is prepared for everyone in the kitchen
    .. momos are a speciality

… you can also get a feel for the location of the model farms. The stone-paved road in Merangding is new. This is a great improvement for the village, as it makes it much easier to reach during the monsoon.

Many thanks to Schoeck Family Foundation for supporting the model farms.

.. the vegetable fields of the model farm in Kunikhop are protected by a fence
.. in Ghunsa, the protection of the terraces by the ‘water’ paths is particularly important
.. in Merangding the road is paved with stones, under the road is the new orchard
.. in Chyangsar, the model farm is only accessible on foot on the slope

Physical exercises and short excursions are organised during the breaks. It is important that the girls are healthy in every respect.

    .. learning together
.. they take turns working on the computers in the hostel
.. the girls sit on the floor, so the insulating mat is very helpful
.. they do gymnastics to loosen up
.. Excursions are fun and add variety to learning

… of some farms from above. The houses in the individual villages are very different. This is mainly due to the location. Where there are roads, the houses can be built more elaborately. But even the large houses are unheated and often have open fires.

What everyone now has are greenhouses, which they can use to grow different types of vegetables.

Many thanks to the Schöck Family Foundation for supporting the project.

.. the women dry their harvest in the sun
.. the greenhouse helps to grow vegetables
.. there are also greenhouses in Ghunsa
.. a lot of maize is still grown alongside the vegetables

.. there is now a greenhouse on every small farm

  • The girls …

    The girls …

… at the hostel are very proud of their own vegetables. They have lovingly tended their own beds and produced their own organic compost and fertiliser.

Cooking their own vegetables is a good basis for a healthy life.

We are proud of the girls’ independence and wish them continued success at school and in the garden.

Many thanks to Schoeck Family Foundation for supporting the hostel.

.. the girls proudly harvest spinach from their own fields
.. cut into small pieces and steamed
.. the cauliflower has also grown really well
.. the beds are regularly tended and watered

.. the leftovers are quickly composted in soil pits
