- For the first time …… Carola Gosch initiated a strategy day with all leading women of the cooperative and the entire team. Questions such as “what were our successes in 2022” and “what are our plans for 2023 and what do we need to achieve them” were discussed very intensively and then presented. Experiences were exchanged, insights gained, but also a lot of laughter and energy built up for the next steps. We would like to thank all the supporters of the projects whose success we were able to celebrate here. Especially Fair Styria and Schöck-Familien-Stiftung make this sustainable development possible.
- A new board of directors ……for the Sagarmatha Milijuli Mahila Cooperative. For the first time, all 4 villages are represented and can decide together on the projects. Over 200 women came, the atmosphere was great. There were not only presentations and discussions but also eating, gossiping and dancing. We would like to thank all the supporters who believed in and supported the development of the cooperative. Especially Fair Styria and Schoeck-Familien-Stiftung have financed trainings of the cooperative again and again.
- The first round …… of the PGS training for organic vegetable production in Kunikhop was successfully attended by all women. The model farm was activated very quickly and so it was possible to show the women a lot of practical things. It was great that this training could already take place in the new training hall, as it would not have been possible outdoors due to bad weather. Unfortunately, there is no furniture yet, but the women made themselves comfortable on the floor. The team of Social Work Institute Nepal and HASERA did a great job. The women go home highly motivated with a certificate and plants. Many thanks to Schöck- Familien- Stiftung…
- Only a short time …… it took in Kunikhop and a beautiful training hall could be completed in its shell. All the work was done with local materials and local labour. How great – this way all the added value stays in the village. There is also a lot going on in the greenhouse and in the field. Many thanks to the Schoeck-Familien-Stiftung, which is providing significant support for this project.
- A great success …… was this year’s Food Festival in Kunikhop with the opening of the greenhouse on the model farm. For the first time, the women proudly exhibited their local vegetables. The women of the cooperative also had a lot of fun dancing with the guests. Many thanks to the Schöck Familien Stiftung!
- The work in Kunikhop..… on the model farm has now begun in a flash. The experience of the other villages is very supportive here. The stations for the preparation of the plants were set up perfectly and the seeds from the project were sown immediately. The women brought wood from home, with which the beds in the greenhouse were lovingly constructed. The joy of everyone is great. This was made possible above all by the support of the Schöck Familienstiftung.
- Here we go …… also in Kunikhop. In the new greenhouse everything is explained so that the women can build their own greenhouses. Also for all other activities the material has now been distributed. We are excited about the first season. Many thanks to the Schöck Family Foundation, which supports this project significantly.
- “Karnali in Soluhkumbu” .... Kunikhop is called because, like Karnali (a very remote province in northern Nepal), there is virtually no access to transportation, education or health services. The remoteness of this place is the reason for Roots for Life’s outreach. In addition to the model farm, the women participate in a certification program. The women came to the two-day training on organic farming with compost and notebooks. They learn mainly through their active participation in digging, planting and mulching, but some writing down and drawing is also done. Thanks to the Schöck-Familien-Stiftung gGmbH for making this initiative possible.
- The existing composting toilets …… in Kunikhop are not very popular and the women understandably want toilets closer to the house and in a “modern” form. However, instead of toilets with wastewater tanks, a project is to be started in which modern composting toilets can produce compost for agriculture in a low-odor and structured way. For this purpose, a local partner could also be won, who will accompany us in this regard. During an excursion, the women visited the modern composting toilets and were enthusiastic. We are very curious to see how the implementation will succeed. This is made possible by the financial support of the Schöck-Familien-Stiftung gGmbH.
- In no time at all …… the women in Kunkhop created a model farm on the new cooperative fields. They came not only with their tools to work the soil but also with ready compost, animal manure and herbs for the preparation of the soil. The action was professionally accompanied by our partner Hasera and the women could learn a lot for the cultivation of the fields. After the strenuous work in this 2-day training, of course, they also had to eat well. We are happy about the enthusiasm and hope for fields full of healthy vegetables. The project is mainly supported by the Schöck-Familien-Stiftung gGmbH.
