• For the second time …

… a strategy day was held with those responsible from all 4 villages. In addition to the presentation of last year’s work, the plans for the coming year and much discussion, there was also an opportunity for informal dialogue. It is great to see how self-confidence is growing and how the women are getting involved. The whole team of Social Work Institute, HASERA and Carola Gosch worked intensively for 2 days. Many thanks to all who support this co-operative: Schoeck Family Foundation, Fair Styria and private sponsors.

  • Congratulations …

… to the second girl from Chyangsar who did the internship for agricultural training at HASERA. She worked so well that she even got a job offer and we hope that she will use it to continue working in this field. We wish her all the best. This will build important capacities for organic farming in Nepal and the initiative will have a lasting effect. Many thanks to HASERA for this valuable training and to our sponsors who have been supporting this girl, among others, for 9 years.

  • Our expert of tomorrow …

… is learning a lot about permaculture theoretically and practically at Hasera. She is from Chyangsar, has been with us on scholarship since 2016 and has successfully completed grade 11 and 12 in Sallerie, as well as an agricultural college. She is doing her internship with our permaculture expert Hasera and an organic farm that produces for sale. She is having a lot of fun and we are looking forward to her being able to use her knowledge in the villages. Many thanks to our patrons who accompany the girls through their support over many years. Many thanks also to Hasera for providing a training place.

  • Super…

… our film about the model farm in Ghunsa is ready. Congratulations to the Sagarmatha Milijuli Mahila Cooperative, Social Work Institute and HASERA for the great results. It was and is a pleasure to work with the women of Ghunsa 🙂 . Many thanks to Chay-Ya Austria for the joint handling and to Land Vorarlberg for the financial support.

  • The apple trees ..

.. in Chyangsar are now protected by a massive deadwood hedge. Together with Bibek Dhital from HASERA, we were able to convince the local authority to include this kind of fence in their support programme in addition to wire mesh fences. Many thanks also to Kusang Tamang for the energetic implementation. Once again an element could be implemented according to permacultural principles. We hope to see more fences like this in the region.

  • Fun …

… the women in Merangding also enjoy the PGS training. With the new great material from HASERA, connections in organic farming can be explained well. Concrete tasks are discussed in small groups and solutions are found under the supervision of the experts. First, as always, there is a training certificate that everyone is proud of, and then it’s off to the implementation in one’s own garden. Many thanks to Fair Styria for financially supporting this project.

  • The first round …

… of the PGS training for organic vegetable production in Kunikhop was successfully attended by all women. The model farm was activated very quickly and so it was possible to show the women a lot of practical things. It was great that this training could already take place in the new training hall, as it would not have been possible outdoors due to bad weather.  Unfortunately, there is no furniture yet, but the women made themselves comfortable on the floor. The team of Social Work Institute Nepal and HASERA did a great job. The women go home highly motivated with a certificate and plants. Many thanks to Schöck- Familien- Stiftung…

  • New ways …

… we want to go with the women in the villages of Solududhkunda also with regard to toilets. At the moment, there are all kinds of options, from very rudimentary to septic tanks, far away as a rickety hut to a little stone house next to the dwelling house. In the sense of permaculture, the cycle can be closed here too and everything can be used. Taking into account local possibilities, we are working on a prototype that works with wooden floors. This should not only support agriculture, but also improve the situation for the women. Many thanks at this point especially to HASERA, with whom we have already tested…
