Successful …
… some things can already be sold on the model farm in Ghunsa, which the president keeps a detailed record of. In addition to the production of dried vegetables, the mill and the sale of processed almond, nut and apple trees are the main sources of income π Many thanks to Schoeck Family Foundation for making the operation of the farms possible and to Fair Styria, whose support makes marketing activities possible.
-
Dried pumpkin …
… will be one of the cooperative’s first products to be sold. Whether finely chopped for vegetable stews or as flour for many other recipes, including pumpkin chai latte π. Many women who previously fed the pumpkin mainly to the animals benefit from the joint production and sale. Now everyone is working feverishly on marketing so that customers are enthusiastic about buying the products. Many thanks to Fair Styria for supporting us in our marketing activities.

In many kitchens..
… it will be much warmer in Merangding this winter. As this space is often also the living and sleeping area, everyone is happy to be able to keep the window bars closed when cooking. The new ovens have a chimney pipe and no longer spread the smoke around the room. This also significantly increases safety for the children. Many thanks to Fair Styria, who responded flexibly to our needs.

Very special results …
… have been achieved by these two women in Ghunsa. Once they grew grapes in the greenhouse and harvested over 40 kg. A great addition to the menu. In the meantime, the cuttings are already being sold. Great results have also been achieved with the compost from the composting toilet. Some of the women are still “reluctant”, but the great harvest will convince them π Many thanks to Fair Styria for the compost toilets and to the SchΓΆck Family Foundation for supporting the women farmers.

Great compost …
… the women in Ghunsa can now produce themselves with their composting toilets. However, correct use is an important prerequisite, so in addition to training, there is also a poster to “look up” for each toilet π . After use, liquid can be used immediately, solid can be used for agriculture after 6 months of proper composting. One of our women in Ghunsa has been doing this since we tested the first prototype and already has fertile compost. So the others can learn from her too. Many thanks to Fair Styria for funding the toilets.
-
Healthy vegetables …
… are now also available in Merangding. Through the ongoing training (unfortunately still without furniture in the training hall), the women learn step by step what is necessary for this. The children are often there too and grow into the diversity of organic vegetable cultivation at an early age. Many thanks especially to Schoeck-Family-Foundation for making the operation of the model farm possible and to Fair Styria for setting it up in the last few years.

Through the mud …
… the van with the stoves had to fight its way to Kunikhop. It is still the rainy season, so some of the roads are hardly passable. The women were all the happier to be able to carry the stoves home safely on foot. Now only the pipe has to be led safely outside, then nothing stands in the way of a smoke-free warm kitchen π Many thanks to @fair styria, whose support made this possible.
-
Safer and warm …
… are the new stoves for the women in Merangding. They can cook with them and the smoke goes outside through the flue. For the children, too, there is less danger of reaching into the open fire or falling. The joy is great π Many thanks to @fair styria for the financial support.

Everything…
… from the training sessions for the use of compost toilets is now being put into practice. One is also being built on the model farm to demonstrate everything. The material is distributed and the families will now finalise their compost toilets. We are happy that compost can be produced for the gardens. Many thanks to Fair Styria for supporting this sustainable initiative.

In front of the curtain …
… we would like to call on our farm supervisor Jaya Laxmi Magar π today. Since she has been running the farm, we can see what has already been learned and what is possible. The pre-breeding in the greenhouse has worked out great and already in June she can proudly sell the harvest. External customers still have little chance, the vegetables go to friends of the farm who are only too happy to buy them. We thank Jaya Laxmi Magar for her great work. Many thanks also to all those who have supported the establishment of the model farm in Chyangsar over the past years and ensure its ongoing operation.…
