Super…
… our film about the model farm in Ghunsa is ready. Congratulations to the Sagarmatha Milijuli Mahila Cooperative, Social Work Institute and HASERA for the great results. It was and is a pleasure to work with the women of Ghunsa 🙂 . Many thanks to Chay-Ya Austria for the joint handling and to Land Vorarlberg for the financial support.

A tree nursery …
… is being built above the model farm in Ghunsa. The cooperative has bought another piece of land here, where there is a large greenhouse and outdoor space. Here, local rootstocks are grown from seeds, which can then also be grafted and sold. We are already very curious to see whether a sustainable contribution to income generation and food diversity will succeed here as well. Many thanks to Chay Ya for supporting the launch of this initiative.

Equipped …
… the women in Ghunsa are now also equipped for the construction of the small animal breeding. For the PGS-compliant stables, they were mainly provided with the roof; they built the stables themselves and did a great job. Â Now they can borrow money from the cooperative to increase the number of animals. All this already involves a lot of personal responsibility and independent organisation. We are proud of how much they have learned in the last few years. Many thanks to Land Vorarlberg and Chay-Ya, through whose support the basis for this can be laid. Since July, the project has been continued by Roots for Life.

Impressive …
… is the implementation of the training by the women in Ghunsa. Potato fields have become great mixed crop fields, and in the meantime they are growing their own plants in greenhouses. We are happy that all women from the certification program can sell their vegetables as 100% organic. We visited some on their farms, here are 2 impressive examples. Many thanks especially to Unser Vorarlberg and Chay-Ya for their support.

Impressive …
… are the changes that have happened in Ghunsa in the last 3 years. A model farm with greenhouses, water storage, training hall, solar dryer as well as many great mixed culture vegetable beds has been built. This has laid the foundation for sustainable development of the village. All this was possible through the financial support of Unser Vorarlberg and the cooperation with Chay-ya.

Super …
… the website of the cooperative is online – Solusisters. Here all products from the farms and the sewing workshops can be presented and also sold. This is a step towards income generation. Many thanks to Land Vorarlberg, which supports this project financially and to Chay-Ya for the cooperation.

Learning from each other …
… is the great success in our projects. The women in Ghunsa are proud of their compost, which they have prepared as they learned. Next on the agenda is the production of cabbage seeds. What our expert also learned is the great idea of using straw in the greenhouse to protect the plants from frost. Of course, this is immediately included in the program. All this is made possible by the support of Land Vorarlberg and Chay-ya Austria, as well as Chay-ya Nepal.

It is unbelievable …
… what is happening right now at the model farm in Ghunsa. Many things have been prepared for a long time, but now there is always great news. The first products are being made in the drying house, the greenhouse for the new nursery is ready, the self-built fence protects the beds. The women from the certification program are taking a close look at everything so that they can then use it themselves. The professional support provided by our partners Hasera and Social Work Institute can thus have a lasting effect. Many thanks to the state of Vorarlberg and Chay-ya Austria, through which this project was made possible.

Fewer coughs ..
.. and colds were seen in the villages this winter. The reason for this is the masks worn by the women, especially on cold days when working outdoors. The masks also do a good job of protecting the lungs against the smoke in families where cooking is still done on an open fire in the house. We are happy that we can contribute something to the health of the population in the villages. Many thanks to the province of Vorarlberg and Chay-ya Austria without whose financial support this project would not have been possible.

Shortly before Christmas ..
.. the last mask workshop went into operation in Kunikhop. The good cohesion in the cooperative made it possible to extend the activities to this village as well. The women are trained by women from Chyangsar and Ghunsa. What was unimaginable a few years ago now works like clockwork. Knowledge transfer and information exchange among the women, use of synergies across village and project boundaries. We are very proud of the learning process of the women, who for a long time were used to fighting only for themselves. Many thanks to the state of Vorarlberg and to Chay-ya Austria for their support.
