    Better and better ..

.. are the washable sanitary towels. The feedback from the women is discussed and the new models are adapted accordingly. The general process of how the individual sewing workshops work together is also explained and discussed by our social worker Racedi.

For example, there is now a central warehouse for the material, which is collected by the women from the villages, and when the sanitary napkins are delivered, they receive the agreed wage per sanitary napkin directly from the cooperative. The sale will then also take place centrally through the cooperative. In this way, marketing can be done jointly and larger quantities can be delivered.

We are proud of the skills that the women have built up in such a short time and thank our sponsors for their support.

  • Everyone sews ..

    Everyone sews ..

.. so do the women in Meranding. They learn from each other and get down to serious work.

These skills will still be very valuable for the women after the masks. Are there still times when not so much can be done in the field and income can be generated with sewing.

We thank in particular the province of Vorarlberg and Chay-ya Austria for supporting this project.

  • Successful ..

    Successful ..

.. was the quick effort of all sewing forces to distribute the first masks not only to the students but to all inhabitants in the villages of Chyangsar, Ghunsa, Meranding and Kunikhop.

The sewing is going on diligently but already some things will be distributed before Christmas.

We thank before all Chay-ya Austria and the province of Vorarlberg for making this project possible.

    Meranding – Scholarships

With the establishment of the cooperative in Meranding came the desire of the women to support their girls in attending school. Education as a prerequisite for a self-determined life for their daughters is a real need for the women in Meranding. The program for the girls in Meranding started in the summer of 2021.

  • Meranding – Income

    Meranding – Income

For the women in Meranding, we supported the establishment of a sewing workshop in 2020 to generate income. In the future, income will also be generated from vegetable cultivation.

    Sewing workshop:

    • the sewing workshop was established in 2020 and six women were trained by the already experienced women from Chyangsar and Ghunsa.
    • Together with the other workshops, about 5,000 masks were sewn and distributed in the villages and schools.
    • In the future, washable pads will also be sewn here.

    Plants and vegetables:

    • As soon as a model farm and possibly a PGS certification program can be started, the women of Meranding could also sell vegetables and plants.

    Meranding – Cooperative

With the establishment of a sewing workshop in 2020 for the production of masks as protection against Covid-19 infections, the women of Meranding were included in the cooperative Sagarmatha Milijuli Sana Kishan. In the meantime, the procedure is well known, there is a sub-organization with its own account, the village is represented in the board of the cooperative and uses the already existing knowledge about economic management of the cooperative.

  • Meranding

    Meranding

Meranding is on the way from Chyangsar to Ghunsa, so the women here have observed the activities in the two villages very early. There is also a large school here, which is attended by many children from Chyangsar and Ghunsa.
The women would like to establish a model farm here as well, and initial talks are already underway. There are 55 families living here, the income structure is somewhat better, since Meranding has access to a mostly drivable road.

  • Meranding ..

    Meranding ..

.. is not an unknown village for us. Up to here a new forest road from Chyangsar goes, from here it is mostly on foot to Ghunsa. The school for many scholarship holders is also located here. The women have been observing the projects in Chyangsar and Ghunsa for quite some time and are now especially happy to be a part of the coopertive as well.
Out of 75 households, 25 women have now joined the cooperative. The sewing workshop for the masks is the first project in which they can now participate. The joy about this is great.

We thank Chay-ya Austria and the province of Vorarlberg for making this possible.

  • Masks ..

    Masks ..

.. are now also sewn in Meranding. Also here the women from Chyangsar have done the training and generated income with their knowledge. Now the sewing workshops in Chyangsar, Ghunsa and also Meranding are active to sew masks for their inhabitants and the children in the schools.
In total, about 5,000 masks will be sewn and distributed.

We thank Chay-ya Austria and the government of Vorarlberg for making this project possible.
