Empowerment Nepal ..
.. means for us to rely on national initiatives. A project is being started in Ghunsa together with the National Innovation Center. With a predominantly solar-powered drying house, local vegetables are to be dried and processed into traditional products. The contracts have been signed, unfortunately the lockdowns and then the rainy season made the work more difficult. Now the locally mined stones are on their way to Ghunsa to build a floor slab. Many thanks especially to @unser vorarlberg and Chay-Ya Austria and Chay-Ya Nepal for their support.

Here we go ..
.. for the girls from Chyangsar and Ghunsa who want to go to college after successfully completing their compulsory education. Kusang Tamang has looked for a suitable room for them on site and has furnished it so far. They will cook, study and sleep there. We wish them all the best. We are still looking for sponsors to finance this 2-year training and would appreciate their support.

Apples and vegetables ..
.. are also available at the model farm in Chyangsar. The amount of apples is still not that big, but the children are very happy about every single one. The beautiful vegetables also contribute to a more varied diet in the families and we are very happy about that. Many thanks to @fair styria, who support this project significantly.

Going to college for the first time ..
.. that was a big dream for 11 girls from Chyangsar and Ghunsa. Even though not all the funds for the 2 years are available we decided to support this. The girls applied with very personal letters. It was also important to us that they can give something back. Be it supporting smaller girls in their basic education or working on the model farms. Our goal is to build a sustainable program here. With the college, the girls will not only be able to play a better role locally in the village, but jobs in administration and education will also be open to them. Anyone who would like to support…

At the beginning ..
.. of the project implementation, our local partners took another look at the situation of the individual families in the village. This makes it possible to respond even more specifically to the needs and to show changes. For example, there are already a few greenhouses in Kunikhop where the government has financed the plastic. Some of the animals are already being sold. As far as vegetables are concerned, they still grow relatively few species and, above all, not yet in a mixed culture. The women are very happy to learn all this in the new project. Many thanks especially to the Schöck-Familien-Stiftung gGmbH for making this possible for them.

Jewellery ..
.. and festivals are still an important cultural element in Pokhara, despite Corona. The girls are working enthusiastically on this and we are happy to see the great results with them. The schools are still closed, but lessons are still held online. Many thanks to our sponsors, especially now the girls need our full support.

In the villages ..
.. 24,400 people live in Soluthudkunda, spread over 565 km2, some of which are very difficult to reach. They are cared for with 2 small hospitals and 9 health posts. It is important here that the aid – often only on foot – could be distributed directly to the population and the health posts. Together with the local government, this has now been achieved on a larger scale. Above all, hygiene and testing should keep the impact as low as possible. Many thanks to all who have supported us in this. Now we can only hope that the situation will stabilise again soon.

Quick help ..
.. was also important now. We still hope for many donations to be able to finance everything. But we had to start buying the material for the health posts in the villages. Our great local partners in Kathmandu organised everything and with the help of the local government in Solududhkunda it could already be transported despite the lockdown. The women of the cooperative also actively helped and sewed washable sanitary pads for staff and patients in the Covid wards at no cost. We hope that these activities will minimise the impact of the pandemic on the villages. A big THANK YOU to all who have already donated and a big…

Help for the villages ..
… is being created in Sallery, where a care centre with beds is being built. In order to provide good care for the more than 20,000 people in the villages, which are spread over more than 500 km2 , we want to work together with the local government to supply this centre and the approximately 10 existing health posts with medically necessary material. The way to a hospital (there are only 2 small ones) or to the centre is too far for many and often only possible on foot. We hope for your help and donations under AT04 5800 0205 9987 3016. Many thanks!

Helping to shape ..
.. the girls from Ghunsa are allowed the support that our sponsors make possible. They are encouraged to stand up for their needs and talk about their challenges. For specific topics, we then also organise experts who can give them important information. This allows us to supplement the education they receive at school significantly. We are proud of how actively they shape their future together with us. Many thanks to our sponsors for their long-term support.
