• Dried vegetable products …

… are to be produced in Ghunsa in the future. The women are very happy about the solar dryer that was purchased at the National Innovation Center and assembled by the technicians. They are very excited to distribute the food dried with the solar dryer. Any organically certified, locally grown produce can be processed, such as radishes, mustard spinach, cauliflower and many more. This solar dryer could be a great source of income for the women in Ghunsa. But also the cooperatives in Chyangsar, Merangding and Kunikhop could benefit a lot. We thank Land Vorarlberg and our partner Chay-ya Austria for the financial support of this innovation, as well as…

  • Warm jackets …

… provided now also for the children in Kunikhop. What a joy. There is no heating in the houses and in the school and the winter is very cold. For us Europeans hardly imaginable. That is why Roots for Life has been distributing the popular fleece jackets for years, which keep warm and fit under a jacket. These cozy jackets are not even taken off to sleep. We thank our sponsors who make this possible. If you would also like to contribute as a sponsor, we would be happy to hear from you at office@rootsforlife.info

  • More and more women …

… from Kunikhop also want to participate in the certification program for organic vegetable cultivation. It quickly becomes clear how difficult it is to achieve high yields on the fields, some of which are very small. Through the new knowledge in the area of mixed culture, use of compost, biological fertilizer and plant protection, this should change now. This sounds exciting, which is why twice as many women as planned are taking part in the program. They are all informed in an admission procedure about the form of support but also about their obligations. Based on the baseline data, all progress can be well documented later. We are excited. The…

  • Building up..

.. a cooperative is exciting and means a lot of new things for the women to learn: “How do we organize ourselves, what are our rights and duties and accounting do we also have to learn and understand!”. So now the women in Kunikhop are becoming part of the success story, which has now grown from 5 women in 2016 to over 200 women. They benefit from the many experiences and the proven training program of our partner Social Work Institute and are thus optimally prepared for your new task – we wish you a good harvest and much success. Many thanks also to the Schöck-Familien-Stiftung gGmbH who supports us…

  • A fabric called Dhaka …

… is still woven in the villages according to centuries-old patterns. For the Nepalese, this is a fabric used for traditional costumes. But our women like to be creative and incorporate modern designs into these colorful fabrics every now and then. The fabrics are woven in the villages themselves and our women have made sample pieces that they are very eager to sell in Austria for the benefit of the cooperative. We are all very excited to see if and how it will be accepted and look forward getting feedback on the first prototypes.

  • Just in time ..

.. the girls in Merangding got the new backpacks already 2021 for the opening of the schools after a lockdown. With the long ways to school and the different weather conditions, it is important for the girls to be able to stow their books safely. Like all children in the world, we wish you a lot of fun in school and thank all sponsors who make this project possible.

  • Merry Christmas …

… we wish our women and children in Nepal. Big thanks to all the people who have accompanied us, in part, for many years and made these wonderful changes in the villages possible. We all hope for a more relaxed year 2022 and above all that we can continue this important work with YOUR support. Christmas donations at DONATE Enclosed as a “Christmas story” an interview with Carola Gosch from WOMAN.at “Sie hat das Leben von Frauen in Nepal verändert..”

  • We are happy..

.. to see how great the work with the woman cooperative Sagarmatha Milijuli Sana Kishan Mahila Krishi Sahakari Sanstha Limited in the villages is progressing even in the cold. Many thanks to Fair Styria, Land Vorarlberg and Schöck-Familien-Stiftung gGmbH for their financeial support and our project partners Chay Ya Nepal, Chay Ya Austria, SWI and Hasera for the great cooperation. Who still wants to do a good deed for Christmas, already with 20€ we can support a woman with trainings for one year. We welcome donations at https://www.rootsforlife.info/spenden/

  • “Spontaneous socks” …

… are needed . When distributing Christmas wishes to our girls, this time it was underwear, they actually came in Flip flops without socks in sub-zero temperatures. Socks are luxury items and are only used for school shoes. Little things that we don’t think about anymore make a big difference in Nepal.   If you also want to do something good for Christmas, we would be happy about a sponsorship at office@rootsforlife.info.   For this year we thank our sponsors for their support and would like to remind everyone that we need your address and date of birth to register with the tax office.   We wish you a Merry…

  • Discuss and measure …

… are important to complete the preparations for school also in the Kid’s Club Chyangsar. Especially the school uniforms have to be completed once again and so the local tailor comes to measure in the village and our partner Kusang Tamang hopefully writes the data correctly on the list. We will see it on the school uniforms 🙂 . Many thanks to our sponsors who have been with us here for a long time and maybe others will feel addressed to support the girls. We would be happy – write to us at office@rootsforlife.info
