• Impressive …

… is the implementation of the training by the women in Ghunsa. Potato fields have become great mixed crop fields, and in the meantime they are growing their own plants in greenhouses. We are happy that all women from the certification program can sell their vegetables as 100% organic. We visited some on their farms, here are 2 impressive examples. Many thanks especially to Unser Vorarlberg and Chay-Ya for their support.

  • Just great …

… are the results of our organic seed donation from the company ReinSaat , which Lena Kremser organized for us. So we could try many new varieties of vegetables and distribute proven ones already to the women. Many thanks to ReinSaat and Lena Kremser, who have thus made a significant contribution to vegetable diversity.

  • A great success …

… was this year’s Food Festival in Kunikhop with the opening of the greenhouse on the model farm. For the first time, the women proudly exhibited their local vegetables. The women of the cooperative also had a lot of fun dancing with the guests. Many thanks to the Schöck Familien Stiftung!

  • Impressive …

… are the changes that have happened in Ghunsa in the last 3 years. A model farm with greenhouses, water storage, training hall, solar dryer as well as many great mixed culture vegetable beds has been built. This has laid the foundation for sustainable development of the village. All this was possible through the financial support of Unser Vorarlberg and the cooperation with Chay-ya.

  • Settled in well …

… our college girls from Chyangsar and Ghunsa have settled in Salleri. Soon the big final exams for the first year will come and we wish them all the best. Soon the next girls should start, so we are looking forward to new sponsors – please contact us at office@rootsforlife.info 🙂 Many thanks to our sponsors, without whom this project would not be possible.

  • Enthusiastic …

… are the women in Merangding about the greenhouse on the model farm. Here, plants are already pre-bred and can then be released in the private farms. At the opening there were again seeds from Austria and other useful little things for the women. Many thanks to Fair Styria, who support this project financially.

  • Potatoes on the road …

.. 400 km, some days on the back of donkeys these organically grown seed potatoes were brought to Samagaun Gorkha, in the west of Nepal. Here the climate is similar to Solukhumbu and there is also a lot of enthusiasm for organically grown produce. It is especially great when women in Solu now send their seed potatoes to women in Gorkha to support organic farming there. We wish good thriving and are happy. Many thanks to the Sagarmatha Milijuli Mahila Cooperative for the good work and Fair Styria as well as Land Vorarlberg for supporting the projects in Chyangsar and Ghunsa. Special thanks also to the cooperation partners in Gorkha…

  • The work on the model farm…

… in Chyangsar is becoming more and more professional. Accurate accounting of the different varieties as well as their yields, own seeds and labeling until the harvest, bring joy to learning. Thus, local chilies are compared with those brought by Carola Gosch – we are curious to see who will win the race. It is important to know that chili is one of the staple foods in Nepal and is used for almost every dish. Many thanks to Fair Styria for the great support, which is essential for the operation of the farm.

  • Especially important …

… for the girls from Chyangsar, Ghunsa and Merangding is of course the distribution of gifts. All children in the world are the same. This year, in addition to the necessary materials for school, they also wanted hair oil and soap for the older girls and coloring books with pencils for the little ones. It is important for them to receive these items personally. Those who were unable to attend were even “represented” by their grandmothers so that the gift would arrive. 😊 Many thanks to our loyal sponsors who make this possible for the girls.
