• In a flash …

the women in Merangding have transformed the model farm into a green oasis. The greenhouse was officially opened in March and the first plants were still small. In the meantime, the first harvest can already be harvested and home-grown plants can be sold. We are proud of this progress that the women of the local cooperative have achieved together. Many thanks to Fair Styria for making this project possible.

  • An overview …

… of all the activities of Roots for Life was given by Carola Gosch at a charity event. A video of the interview with a summary of the great work of Roots for Life has also been created – take a look. Many thanks to Martina Pophal for the great moderation. Presentation Roots for Life interview

  • Challenging …

… is the work for the team in the villages of Solukhumbu. Even getting there is always a risk: the road is once again blocked for five hours after the landslide, and there are no detours. On site, the next hurdle – no infrastructure to process the day’s meetings. Then it’s outdoors, under the watchful eye of curious children, trying to catch a whiff of internet via mobile phone. The luxury here is the fresh vegetables we are supplied with at the “all-purpose headquarters”. At this point, a big thank you to the entire team for their great work.

  • Move …

the women were able to move their sewing machines into the converted “stable” on the model farm. In addition to a store, there is now also a bright room where the fabrics are stored. The women not only sew masks and washable sanitary napkins here, but also bags and clothes for their own use or for the local market. Although the workshop was set up as part of the project, it is already functioning completely independently under the management of the cooperative. Empowerment final 🙂 Many thanks to Fair Styria for the initial help and congratulations to the Sagarmatha Milijuli Sana Kishan Mahila Krishi Sahakari Sanstha Limited for the independent work.

  • Very pleased …

… the women from Merangding and Kunikhop were very happy about the generous donation of the company Konrath Neunkirchen https://www.facebook.com/GartencenterKonrath/ With the 15 automatic window openers the large greenhouses can be operated safely and mold can be avoided. Many thanks to the company Konrath in the name of the cooperative.

  • Impressive …

… is the implementation of the training by the women in Ghunsa. Potato fields have become great mixed crop fields, and in the meantime they are growing their own plants in greenhouses. We are happy that all women from the certification program can sell their vegetables as 100% organic. We visited some on their farms, here are 2 impressive examples. Many thanks especially to Unser Vorarlberg and Chay-Ya for their support.

  • Just great …

… are the results of our organic seed donation from the company ReinSaat , which Lena Kremser organized for us. So we could try many new varieties of vegetables and distribute proven ones already to the women. Many thanks to ReinSaat and Lena Kremser, who have thus made a significant contribution to vegetable diversity.

  • Impressive …

… are the changes that have happened in Ghunsa in the last 3 years. A model farm with greenhouses, water storage, training hall, solar dryer as well as many great mixed culture vegetable beds has been built. This has laid the foundation for sustainable development of the village. All this was possible through the financial support of Unser Vorarlberg and the cooperation with Chay-ya.
