• Very precisely …

… the steps from the pre-grown plants to the harvest are trained together with the experts. Soon the model farm in Chyangsar will be certified, so that the vegetables can be sold on the market as organic vegetables. In addition to maintaining soil health, these products can also generate a higher yield. Many thanks to Fair Styria, who faithfully accompany us here.

  • It is unbelievable …

… what is happening right now at the model farm in Ghunsa. Many things have been prepared for a long time, but now there is always great news. The first products are being made in the drying house, the greenhouse for the new nursery is ready, the self-built fence protects the beds. The women from the certification program are taking a close look at everything so that they can then use it themselves. The professional support provided by our partners Hasera and Social Work Institute can thus have a lasting effect. Many thanks to the state of Vorarlberg and Chay-ya Austria, through which this project was made possible.

  • Again and again …

… we discuss with the scholarship holders which school uniforms are needed. In Ghunsa and Chyangsar it happened again. We hope that everything was measured correctly and that the school dresses now fit well. The girls were very happy about it. We wish the girls a good time at school and thank the sponsors for their support.

  • Water …

… is a big issue in all villages, sometimes too much, sometimes too little. in Chyangsar the reservoir is already empty again. In heavy rain slips again and again a piece of the field. Slowly the women develop a feeling for it and small ditches are made where water can run off well or flow into the prepared basin. Watering is still mainly done by hand but there are plans to lay hoses where it is absolutely necessary. The ongoing development of the model farm is only possible with the support of Fair Styria.

  • The construction…

… of new greenhouses runs faster and faster every time. A new greenhouse was able to be built in Merangding. Our partner Rajkumar Rai already knows exactly how to do it. All materials are obtained locally and built by local forces. So for the coming season, the women here can also grow their vegetables all year round. What a great opportunity. We wish them much success and thank Fair Styria, who with Merangding are looking after a second village with us.

  • “Karnali in Soluhkumbu” ..

..  Kunikhop is called because, like Karnali (a very remote province in northern Nepal), there is virtually no access to transportation, education or health services. The remoteness of this place is the reason for Roots for Life’s outreach. In addition to the model farm, the women participate in a certification program. The women came to the two-day training on organic farming with compost and notebooks. They learn mainly through their active participation in digging, planting and mulching, but some writing down and drawing is also done. Thanks to the Schöck-Familien-Stiftung gGmbH for making this initiative possible.
